The owners of HAKI, Midway group has set an expansion strategy. During the last years there have been two acquisitions in UK in adjacent product areas.  With this in hand, the management of HAKI, has now decided to make a reorganization which better suits the future both on group level and locally at the different daughter companies.

There has also been a change in the production strategy during the last years, where HAKI has gone from producing almost everything in their own factory to contract different suppliers.

As Strategic Buyer one will report direct to Supply Chain Director and work on a group level. This means that one coordinates all purchasing together with local buyers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and UK. The total purchase value is now about 400 MSEK. This will probably increase through future acquisitions.

Most of the suppliers are from Sweden and Europe, but there some purchasing from Asia as well. Main direct materials are steel and aluminum. But the ambition is that the strategic buyer also will take responsibility for purchasing of significant indirect material on a group level, such as transports and power supplies. Delivery performance, price analysis and quality outcome are measured on a regular basis, but the assessment tools need to be further developed and coordinated in the Group.

Purchasing is today mostly focused on operative issues; the objective is to move to a more strategic approach. The position means negotiations, and contract writing with suppliers, to standardize and to develop the multitude of components together with construction. In the position one are expected to work closely with the local buyers in the different countries. There is frequent traveling in the position, partly to the local buyers partly to different suppliers throughout Europe.
